Baked honey chicken nuggets
Recipe (4 servings) ingredients:
- 3 boneless chicken breasts
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- sesame seeds
- parsley finely chopped
Preheat the oven (to 200°C). Beat the egg to a plate and season with salt and pepper. Add the chicken to the egg and make sure that every piece is coated in the egg. Toss the chicken pieces into the breadcrumbs and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes (until chicken is golden). In the meantime prepare the sauce.
For the sauce:
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 garlic cloves smashed
- salt, pepper
Add all the ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to boil (in a medium heat). Decrease to low heat and cook for 5 more minutes (stirring occasionally). Pour the sauce over the chicken and garnish with sesame seeds and fresh parsley.

Chicken nuggets its not the kind of dish that you usually accompany with wine but as I say everything can be wine paired! Our key ingredients here are chicken and honey. We will follow the rule white meat – white wine, so we need a white wine to pair with the sweetness and fullness of honey.
Avoid any aged whites (white wines when aged usually develop honey and caramel aromas) as they are too heavy for the dish. My suggestion is a fresh dry wine from Gewurztraminer grapes which is easy to drink (has sweet floral aromas) and difficult to pronounce!! Alsace region (France) produces the top of the kind but as always I will suggest wines from Greece such as Melissopetra of Tselepos Winery in Mantinia and Gewurztraminer of Dio fili winery in Siatista.
If have never tried Gewurztraminer wine do it know, and you will not regret it!
